BlueKittyCool will be giving away socks, moisturizing hand sanitizer, toothpaste whisp, hair combs, towels, and other various items Saturday to anyone displaced in the CBD area. The packages are being prepared now, and the exact time and location will be announced once we are on site.
Our only wish is that we could give more–but this is what they refer to as a “shoe string” Non-Profit (and proud of it), so of course our budget is low.
We have not asked for donations at this time, as this is more of a personal journey for BlueKitty. The article below explains why.
BlueKittyCool’s Thoughts On Sacrifice and Change.
The strength to sacrifice has all but dwindled in the masses. Self protection at all cost is mistaken for intelligent evolution. However, ask yourself, how is it that I expect others to care for me, if I’ve done nothing to demonstrate that I care for others?
This is a vicious cycle most of us participate in, always wanting-never giving. But why? Most will tell you the same four words… “I can’t afford it.” Really? Let’s take inventory here, do you own the new I-Pad, have cable, or perhaps an unlimited call and data plan? How many games, DVDs, purses, shoes, and gadgets are strewn about right now? Chances are you’re not using half of them anymore.
Many of us can afford it-we simply are not willing to sacrifice what perceived little we have, to help someone with less. Perhaps this is exactly what the wealthy are thinking also. Perhaps, to sacrifice buying a new boat evokes the same fear that another would have over sacrificing a front-loading washing machine, or a vacuum-that never loses suction!
Could it be that we are all secretly thinking the exact same thing, only in a different context?
The only obvious solution, and we’ve heard this before-is to start with self. I cannot depend on my words to motivate others-but I can be the change. I can sacrifice what I wish others would myself. Therein lays the true test of humanity, not as a whole, but within yourself.

I like that you are thinking of others. I like that you want to make a difference in this world.
Not buying that 100 foot yacht may be more like you not buying a designer handbag. Both are about all about social membership. Obviously, membership to very different social circles.
You could live with $20 handbags from Payless. But do you? If you do – that’s awesome. But it doesn’t change someone else’s desire for membership in a preferred community.
That said, there may be a lesson here for you. If you want to get people to help out with what you are doing, reach out to them from within their community. Make it a membership issue.

Thank you for the thoughtful comment!
When I first started on this journey, getting others to join in never crossed my mind. If I were to allow myself to depend on others to join me in order to stay motivated, I could end up very disappointed.
Everyone wants to change the world, but no one wants to change themselves. (quote)
This is one persons mission to change herself first, before attempting to change others.
